Viewing web statistics in cPanel

cPanel offers a choice of web statistics tools - AWStats or Webalizer.
We strongly advise choosing AWStats over Webalizer, as Webalizer does not differentiate visitors to your site from bots crawling your site, which can significantly alter results. AWStats aims to filter out the bots but is not always 100% successful.

AWStats produces informative graphs about the number of visitors to your site and allows you to access a range of valuable statistics.

Updated every 24 hours, AWStats takes data directly from the server logs to calculate the number of visitors that your site receives and is able to produce a range of further information including:

  • Monthly history
  • Days of month
  • Days of week
  • Hours
  • Countries (top 25)
  • Hosts (top 25)
  • Authenticated users (top 10)
  • Robots/Spiders visitors (top 25)
  • Visits duration
  • Files types
  • Pages-URL (top 25)
  • Operating systems (top 10)
  • Browsers (top 10)
  • Connect to site from
  • Search key phrases (top 10)
  • Search keywords (top 25)
  • HTTP error codes
To view these statistics, follow these steps:
1. Login in to cPanel using the details provided in your New Account Information email.
2. Under the Logs section, click AWStats.
3. Locate the domain name you wish to view stats for and click View. You can then filter the results to your specifications.

For definitive analysis of visitors to your site, we would recommend Google Analytics, which requires some code to be written in to your web pages but offers a complete view of visitors to your site and helpful tools and reports to increase traffic.
