The A record is one of the most important records within your DNS zone file. The A stands for Address and the IP address for an A record states where your domain name is pointing. The correct A record is crucial if you have a website, as no-one will be able to access your site if the IP address is incorrect. If you don’t have a website and only use your domain for email, an A record is not necessary.
